Here's our story
2003
How our story started
Our story started in the small town of Aurelia, Iowa. After meeting at an outing both our families were attending, we connected on similar passions for design, creativity, and out-of-the box thinking. We would later attend Morningside College, get married, and launch Bowen Design and Print from our home in Waukee, Iowa while raising our two daughters.
2007
Graduated and started a career
Glen started his design career at a sports apparel t-shirt company in Waukee, Iowa and Janae started a photography career in West Des Moines, Iowa.
2012
Bowen Design and Print is official
Glen quit his job to start Bowen Design and Print with an initial $30,000 investment in printing equipment all from a spare bedroom. Within a year, the business would expand to the garage.
2014
From 100 to 1000 shirts per day
Due to the demand for higher volume screen printing an automatic screen printing press was added to the shop. We would later go on to be recognized by the Waukee Chamber of Commerce as Small Business of the Year for 2014.
2016-2019
Ever-growing business, big changes
We needed more space and ended up building a new home with an attached shop in Norwalk, Iowa. The ever-growing business meant more big changes ahead: larger printing equipment for vehicle wraps and vinyl installation, an embroidery machine, and hiring our first employee.
2020-Today
Thankful for growth and excited for the future!
We are extremely thankful for the continued unprecedented growth of our business. Despite the challenges 2020 brought our world and community, our business came out on top.
